This is another Nasheed I wrote about being alive at the time of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) (Peace and blessings be upon him). For those of you who don’t know a Nasheed is a work of vocal music that is either sung acapella or accompanied by percussion instruments such as the daf. In general, Islamic nasheeds do not contain lamellaphone instruments. The material and lyrics of a nasheed usually make reference to Islamic beliefs, history, and religion, as well as current events. This Nasheed is a cover of “I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker” by Sandi Thom. I am looking to get this recorded so any Nasheed artists out there please feel free to get in touch.
I wish we were companions when the Qur’an was being shared
Back when the Prophet was spreading Islam through the air
We came too late, into a world that isn’t fair
Oh I wish we were companions when the Qur’an was being shared
When Jibreel came down to Hira
And came to the Prophet from afar
Gave him a hug and told him to read in the name of your lord
When Khadijah went to Waraka
Who confirmed Muhammad was Allah’s messager
The last and final one to ever roam the earth
I wish we were companions when the Qur’an was being shared
Back when the Prophet was spreading Islam through the air
We came too late, into a world that isn’t fair
Oh I wish we were companions when the Qur’an was being shared
When the order came down for salah
And people started worshipping Allah
When people were so happy once Ramadan drew near
Ridding back into Mecca
When he did Tawaf of the Kaaba
When Muhammad went to Al-Aqsa and lead angels and Prophets in prayer
I wish we were companions when the Qur’an was being shared
Back when the Prophet was spreading Islam through the air
We came too late, into a world that isn’t fair
Oh I wish we were companions when the Qur’an was being shared
When people from far would walk
Just to listen to the Prophet talk
And the air was filled with peace and the love for Islam
When the Prophet himself spit the moon
And the world wasn’t full of gloom
May Allah let us see his face when we’re lying in our graves
I wish we were companions when the Qur’an was being shared
Back when the Prophet was spreading Islam through the air
We came too late, into a world that isn’t fair
Oh I wish we were companions when the Qur’an was being shared
